About Gary Hebert

Deputy Chief Gary Hebert joined GVFD in 2006 after his son joined the department. His work spans interior firefighting, driving and pump operations, EMS, fire police, and officer responsibilities. He reports Firefighter I and II, Emergency Medical Responder, boat operator, and surface ice rescue technician qualifications. He helped build the three bay garage behind the firehouse and the Memory Gardens in front. Gary attends department and outside training and puts particular care into looking out for fellow members' safety. His years working in kitchen and bathroom remodeling gave him firsthand knowledge of building layouts. Outside the firehouse, he enjoys woodworking, model airplanes, and building CNC machines. He reminds prospective volunteers that a department has many ways to serve beyond firefighting.
